Ohio Alumni at ATC 2018

Turf
Ohio Program Men on Golf Course

For over 20 years, Syngenta has partnered with the Ohio University to support The Ohio Program – an International Exchange Program specialising in Internships for Horticulture, Agriculture and Turf Grass.

There are many Australian and New Zealand turf managers and superintendents who have benefited from being a part of the program. We look forward to catching up with these alumni at the Australasian Turfgrass Conference (ATC) in Wellington in June 2018.

There will be a gathering on Monday 25th June prior to the President’s Dinner that we’d welcome any alumni to attend. This will provide an opportunity to reconnect and share your experiences with each other. Please see the invite for details and remember to RSVP.

For those interested in finding out more about this hands-on education program that trains the next generation of golf course superintendents, we are fortunate to have Michael O’Keeffe attending the ATC this year and he will be at the Syngenta stand to answer any questions you may have about the program.

The Ohio Program strives to provide the best opportunities for on-the-job training and internships for specially selected foreign and American students. Turfgrass internship (inbound) focuses on the environmental, aesthetic, recreational, and economic benefits of turfgrass. The internship is 6-12 months long.

Interns will assist with general golf course maintenance and have responsibilities that include mowing, fertilising, aerating, watering, pest management and maintenance of equipment and irrigation systems. Many turfgrass interns enjoy preparing golf courses for the most important tournaments in the world.
