SDS Revision Date Format Update

SDS Revision Date Teaser

Syngenta has implemented a global update to the format of our Safety Data Sheet (SDS) documents. This is a documentation control change intended to provide clearer traceability of version changes. The SDS content and regulatory intent remain unchanged.

As part of this global format update, Syngenta SDS display three dates to improve transparency and version traceability:

  1. Date of first issue (when the SDS was originally created)
  2. Date of last issue (when the previous version was issued)
  3. Revision Date (the date when the document was last revised)

To clarify further, the revision date is the date on which the SDS was most recently updated and revised. An SDS does not carry an “expiry date” on the document. However, the legal requirement is that an SDS must be reviewed and revised at least every five (5) years. Where an update is required, a new revision date will be applied to reflect the latest revision. For example; if the SDS states that the Revision Date is 22.04.2026, it is legally valid until 22.04.2031.

We recognise that this update has caused some confusion, and we apologise for any inconvenience this has created. Syngenta is actively working to review this matter at a local and global level to remove this ambiguity and make our documentation as clear and consistent as possible.
